This year, state parties are permitted to fund up to 85% of their operating budget with non-federal dollars – the only political organizations allowed to use this generous split. The difference between the expenses that could be paid for with non-federal dollars, and the non-federal money raised and spent, is called the Opportunity Gap.
If this allocation is fully met, this would free their valuable federal dollars for voter registration, GOTV, and candidate advocacy that will directly benefit our candidates up and down the ballot. But we must act immediately. State parties have only 60 days from the date of an unnecessary federal expenditure to substitute non-federal funds, making early and frequent funding critical. Please make a donation now to help close this gap.
