Joe Carmichael, former President of the Association of State Democratic Chairs, currently serves as President and Managing Partner of the Springfield, Missouri law firm of Carmichael, Gardner & Neal, P.C.   Mr. Carmichael's primary areas of practice include tax law, business planning and transactions as well as commercial litigation.

Mr. Carmichael is actively involved in political and community activities.   He previously served as Greene County, MO Democratic Chair (1988 to 1992) and Delegate to the 1988, 1992, 1996, and 2000 Democratic National Conventions.   He served as the Missouri State Democratic Party Chair and as a member of the Democratic National Committee from 1994 to March 2003. He was elected President of the Association of State Democratic Chairs in February 2001, and served that position until March 2003.
